Four years running, Carteret Health Care is excited to announce that it has again been named a Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital in the United States by the Chartis Center for Rural Health. This recognition is for the 2019 release. Carteret Health Care remains the only North Carolina hospital included as a Top 100 based upon the results of the Hospital Strength INDEX® from iVantage Health Analytics.
“This achievement validates our staff’s daily and consistent commitment to providing the best health care possible to our community, while providing efficient and effective health care services,” said Dick Brvenik, Carteret Health Care President.
Regarded as one of the industry’s most significant designations of performance excellence, Carteret Health Care scored in the top 100 among all rural and community hospitals nationally. The INDEX leverages 50 rural-relevant indicators across eight pillars of hospital strength including Inpatient Market Share, Outpatient Market Share, Cost, Charge, Quality, Outcomes, Patient Perspective and Financial Stability to determine an overall score for each hospital. Each of the INDEX’s 50 indicators is culled from publicly-available data sources, primarily the federal government, through the Center for Medical and Medicaid Services.
“In an era of increased complexity and uncertainty, Top 100 hospitals have established themselves as a bellwether for rural provider performance,” said Michael Topchik, National Leader of The Chartis Center for Rural Health. “Top 100 status is a real indicator of how proactive these hospitals are when it comes to pushing for performance improvement in areas such as quality, outcomes, patient safety, market share and finance.”
This achievement further validates Carteret’s commitment to the community in providing high-quality, cost effective care which is available locally. As an independent, community hospital, Carteret remains focused on growing essential services to better serve its population and the distinction comes after other recent recognitions including being named one of America’s Best Hospitals for Orthopedics by the Women’s Choice Award; the only hospital in our region to earn Top 5% for Outstanding Patient Experience nationwide by Healthgrades; being noted with the highest NC Maternity Center Breastfeeding-Friendly Designation from the NC Division of Public Health and for receiving the most Get With The Guideline awards of any North Carolina hospital for heart failure, stroke, and resuscitation care.
Brvenik concluded, “Our awards and recognitions mean that you can expect excellence from us in the areas of patient satisfaction, quality clinical care, outcomes, exceptional doctors and staff and more. We are continuously finding ways to improve not only the kind of care that we deliver, but how we deliver it to you, your family and the people of Carteret County.
