Advancement to a HIMSS Analytics Stage 6 Hospital

Carteret Health Care has again been recognized for exceptional work and quality results. Health Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) Analytics notified Carteret Health Care that they are now advanced to a HIMSS Analytics Stage 6 hospital. 

Carteret Health joins an elite group of only 30 percent of all US hospitals, and one of only 56 North Carolina hospitals, who have achieved this second highest level of recognition for efforts with the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM). Other facilities in the eastern region of our state that have reached this achievement include New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, and UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

According to the HIMSS, being a Stage 6 hospital indicates that Carteret has achieved a significant advancement in information technology capabilities that position us to successfully address many of the current industry transformations, such as meaningful use criteria in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, claims attachments for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, pay for performance with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and government quality reporting programs.

Specifically, the technology benefits patients by making their own personal health information available to them at any time by using a patient portal. Physicians and the entire health care team can better monitor the timely care and health of patients as a result.
