Entering our doors just got a bit easier. Now patients and visitors can take advantage of a new golf cart shuttle service to ease access from the parking lot into Carteret Health Care's main entrance. The free shuttle, run by an amazing team of volunteer drivers, was created after receiving feedback from patients.
“Adding this complimentary transport service is just another example of how we listen to our patients and strive to improve the patient experience” says Dick Brvenik, Carteret Health Care CEO. “We want every visit with us to be as smooth and friendly as possible.”
Patients and visitors will see the shuttle circling parking lots Monday through Friday from 8am until 4pm, rain or shine. The volunteers for the golf cart shuttle service and greeters in the main lobby have been coordinated by efforts of the Patient Experience Action Team at Carteret.
The golf cart shuttle can comfortably accommodate five passengers along with limited walking aids such as a cane or walker. It is equipped with side enclosures to resist rain, nonskid slip resistant surfaces, safety rails and durable tires.
Additionally, visitor services are readily available for anyone who needs assistance walking or getting around inside the hospital. Simply go to the main hospital information desk in the in the new lobby where an ambassador will be happy to assist you in getting to your location.
Wheelchair assistance is also available upon request for our patients, families and visitors. Convenient for curbside assistance, wheelchairs are stationed just inside the main lobby entrance.
You can reach the information desk at 252-499-7000 if you have questions or need assistance.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer driver for the new golf cart shuttle program or a patient escort or ambassador, please call Virginia Cuthrell, Physician Liaison and Recruiter at 252-499-6021.
Brvenik concludes, “We are excited to have this new service for our patients’ and visitors’ comfort and safety.”
