Carteret Health Care Board Member Honored as 1st Emeritus Professor and Distinguished Professor appointment in the Brody School of Medicine’s Department of Cardiovascular Sciences.
Pine Knoll Shores resident and Carteret Health Care Board Member Eric L. Fearrington, MD was recently honored as the first Brody School of Medicines Emeritus Professor and Distinguished Professor appointment in the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences.“Dr. Fearrington has been an outstanding mentor, clinician, and educator for our department for the past 24 years, and he is certainly deserving of this appointment.” John Mark Williams, MD, Chairman, Department of Cardiovascular Sciences, East Carolina Heart Institute at ECU shared.
“Dr. Fearrington’s dedication and commitment to patient care, teaching, professional activities, and our eastern North Carolina community are truly exceptional and appreciated.”
After graduating from the University of the North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, Dr. Fearrington then completed his Medical Internship at the University of Texas School Of Medicine at Parkland Hospital. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship training in Cardiovascular Disease at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
“Dr. Fearrington’s achievement is a wonderful capstone to his distinguished career and a reflection of the quality of our Board of Directors,” stated Dick Brvenik, Carteret Health Care CEO. “As an outstanding Cardiologist, Dr. Fearrington brings an elevated understanding of this entire service line, and its needs and opportunities, and he, along with all of our board members, plays a vital part in addressing them.”
Dr. Williams emphasized, “Especially noteworthy are the countless community service activities that Dr. Fearrington has provided to rural hospital systems and clinical practices in eastern North Carolina. Dr. Fearrington’s clinical services are truly impressive.”
The Carteret County Board of Directors uses their knowledge and expertise to help us achieve our strategic goals and provide the best healthcare to our community. Having a strong, knowledgeable Board is imperative given the changing health care environment.
Brvenik concluded, “This is a very well deserved honor for Dr. Fearrington. He embraces change while always focused on ensuring Carteret General is meeting our mission and vision.”
