Carteret Rehabilitation Programs
Get Cost-Effective Care Close to Home
Through a team approach, our goal is to meet the needs of inpatients and outpatients at Carteret Health Care and to restore the patient’s level of independence and quality of life. Our rehabilitation services include Speech Language Pathology, Physical and Occupational Therapy.
Conditions that May Require Rehabilitation
Many health problems impact our day to day interaction with the world. Through rehabilitation, patients are given tools and techniques to help them readjust.
- Strokes – The aftereffects of a stroke can be devastating and possibly permanent. Rehabilitation has been shown to make significant improvement in many patients’ conditions.
- Post-Surgery Patients – After a hip replacement or other involved surgery, it can take time and effort for the body to recover. Rehabilitation exercises can speed up this process. In some cases, complete recovery is impossible without rehabilitation.
- Speech disorders – Having difficulty speaking is hard on both kids and adults. A speech language pathologist is trained in exercises that help the patient improve their communications skills.

Physical Therapy
Here, you’ll find that all of our physical therapists are licensed professionals, specially trained in musculoskeletal dysfunction. We strive to improve function and prevent disability following a disease or surgical process, injury, wound or amputation. Our team uses customized exercise programs, manual therapy techniques, ultrasound, electric stimulation, massage and a variety of wound care techniques. Aquatic therapy, Pelvic rehabilitation and dry needling are also available.
Physical therapy is:
- Focused on the condition as a whole
- Training patients to use medical equipment like wheelchairs and crutches
- Managing symptoms of the condition
Occupational Therapy
Our licensed occupational therapists are trained to observe activities of daily living and assist patients in their home and work environments. Through adaptive techniques or devices, we help individuals stay as independent as possible. With specialized knowledge of the upper extremity, our occupational therapists offer modalities, range of motion, exercises and the saebo-flex to help patients regain functional use of their upper extremities.
Occupational therapy is:
- Focused on helping patients live their day-to-day life without difficulty
- Helps patients achieve personal goals for recovery
- Helps patients deal with the mental and emotional challenges of their condition

Speech therapy:
- Treats speech disorders that affect both children and adults
- Is administered by professional speech language pathologists trained in exercises to help the patient improve their communication skills
