William “Bill” Crawford, MD New Vice President of Medical Affairs

Carteret Health Care is very pleased to announce that Dr. William “Bill” Crawford will be joining our team as Vice President of Medical Affairs effective April 9, 2018. Dr. Crawford is succeeding Dr. Donald Pocock who is retiring.

Relocating from Concord, New Hampshire, Dr. Crawford was the Senior Physician Advisor and Director of Utilization Management at Concord Hospital and also served as a Hospitalist for the past 14 years. In addition, Dr. Crawford worked as their Associate Director of Hospital Medicine from 2009-2016 and was a teaching attending for their Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency program.

“Dr. Crawford’s extensive expertise in quality and patient safety will make him a strong and effective clinical leader for us. He has specialized education in patient safety and quality improvement which includes training in those areas at the Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, a nationally recognized performance improvement leader,” said Dick Brvenik, Carteret Health Care CEO. “His knowledge and experience will only strengthen our culture of providing safe, compassionate care in our community.”

In his role, Dr. Crawford will focus on the clinical care that Carteret Health Care provides to the community with an emphasis on quality and efficiency, as well as the patient and clinician experience. He will work closely with medical staff leaders and all physicians in our community and additionally will be responsible for oversight of the Carteret Medical Group with thirteen providers.

A native of North Carolina, Dr. Crawford completed his undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina Greensboro where he earned a Bachler of Arts in Biology. He completed post graduate studies at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, NY in the Department of Neuroscience, and earned his medical degree at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. He received his residency training at the Dartmouth Family Medicine program. Dr. Crawford is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians. He has a keen interest in improving patient outcomes and care processes using Lean methodology.

Dr. Crawford and his wife Holly, along with their 15 year old twins are looking forward to moving to the beach and enjoying warmer winters.
