CHC Earns Six Top Quality Achievement Awards

Carteret Health Care is pleased to announce that the care rendered by its staff continues to excel and the Medical Center is again being recognized for excellence in quality patient care by the American Heart Association (AHA). Carteret Health Care hit the top mark again and received six recognitions from AHA’s Get With The Guidelines program in four care areas. Heart Failure and Stroke both received Gold Plus as well as an additional recognition for Target Honor Roll for each.

“Adhering to the American Heart Association’s Get with the Guidelines is another example of Carteret Health’s dedication to improving the quality of care for our patients,” said Pat Ausband, Vice President Patient Care Services. “Our community deserves the very best care and these recognitions strongly indicate how we are devoted to improving the health of all our citizens.”

Specifically, Carteret Health Care is recognized for six achievements with heart failure management and stroke care receiving two awards each:

  • Heart Failure - Gold Plus and Target: Heart Failure Honor Roll, Highest level possible
  • Stroke - Gold Plus and Target: Stroke Honor Roll
  • Atrial Fibrillation - Silver
  • Resuscitation - Gold Plus, Highest level possible

These awards recognize the hospital’s commitment to ensuring patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.

“Being honored for giving excellent patient care is the best recognition a hospital can earn,” shared Dick Brvenik, Hospital President. “We are proud to be amongst this elite group of hospitals that are providing quality care to their communities.”

Get With The Guidelines (GWTG) is a hospital-based quality improvement initiative created by the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Stroke Association (ASA) to improve the care of patients with cardiac diseases and stroke. It supports the AHA mission to reduce death and disability due to cardiovascular diseases and stroke. It is evidence-based and founded on the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Guidelines for secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases and is designed to help health care providers consistently treat patients in accordance with these accepted guidelines.

Carteret Health Care’s six awards will be recognized in the “Best Hospitals” issue of the US News & World Report this fall.

Brvenik concluded, “These achievements are made possible by the devotion and care of all of our hospital and medical staff and each and every person’s abiding commitment to improving health. As we work to make Carteret Health even better for you and your family, our recognition for heart care, AFIB, resuscitation and stroke care are more examples of how we are committed to turning guidelines into lifelines.”
